Dear St. Nicholas Cathedral School Families,
The entire St. Nicholas Cathedral School (SNCS) staff is pleased to be open to all SNCS students for the 2020/2021 academic year. We welcome our students, joining us in–person and our students joining us virtually.
Our team eagerly embraces the opportunity to once again engage our student community. As educators we recognize the importance of learning and in order to meet the needs of families this very unusual year, SNCS offered families the option to select in-person or virtual learning.
Our operating framework was developed with guidance issued by the Archdiocese of Chicago and follows local (CDPH), state (IDPH), and federal (CDC) guidelines and suggested practices. Scientific evidence indicates that risks to students and staff can be kept low if schools adhere to strict control measures, and dynamically respond to potential outbreaks. We will be continuously monitoring the data and our plan and adjust accordingly.
This school year began with new protocols, new daily arrival and dismissal procedures, daily temperature checks, students socially distanced and wearing face masks. This is our new “normal”. We believe that by following appropriate measures including safe practices in classrooms and building a culture of shared responsibility and modified activities; the experience of the 2020/2021 school year, while it will be different it will be memorable.
Creating a safe and healthy environment is a joint responsibility and requires a strong partnership between our staff and our families. SNCS will rely on your active participation, cooperation and full support.
Together we can make a difference!
Anna Cirilli, Principal
